Winter Cruize Tour 9
Stop #8 Myrtle Beach, SC Final Destination sponsored by DropJaw
Magazine...presented by DropJaw
As you know, we have been coming down to Myrtle Beach, SC for the
Winter Cruize Tour now for 9 years. The past three years we have
been coming the whole week. This year when we arrived on Monday,
there were already people cruizin' the strip and that had been at
the beach since that past Saturday. One couple stands out that was
there early and that is Dwayne and DropJaw Cutie Heidi from
Constructive Illusions car and truck club. I had been talking with
them all year about their wedding which they were planning totally
around the Myrtle Beach WCT9 stop. From the date they chose, to the
honeymoon spot (Myrtle Beach), down to them getting Heidi's new
project S-10 ready for the pics we had planned on taking while at
the beach. Everything came together for them and they were at the
motel chillin' when we rolled into town.....enjoying their
honeymoon. It was really cool to be able to get with them and get
these shots of them dressed out in total wedding gear, standing next
to their two sweet S-10s, right there on the strip. Everyone was
riding by and congratulating them while we were taking the
pics.....it was pretty cool. From all of us here at DropJaw, we wish
you guys the best of luck and will be seeing you two throughout the
years. Dont worry Heidi...the truck will grow on you. And if it dont
you can always use it to pull your next pink prelude....lol. As for
the beach....it sure wasnt a warm week. It stayed cold pretty much
the entire time except for Friday. No matter what the weather
though, the normal local crew, along with the people who came from
out of town, still hung out in the Happy Holiday parking lot every
night of the week. It never fails, there is always something
interesting to take pics of the whole time. We started a new thing
this year at the Happy Holiday room that we have every year. It
started when a spinning hubcap was found behind the motel Monday
night. We tried sticking it in a few different places and it only
seemed to fit just right in the window of our room. Not to limit it
to just a spinning hubcap hanging there, we decided to create a
window display of "Gifts from our Friends". The window was
open to anything that our friends wanted to give us to hang up.
Throughout the week we collected alot of business cards, magazines,
used up perfume bottles, menus from local restaurants, a sweetass
Chuck Norris poster and alot more. We have pics of it just
about everyday that we have coverage for so be sure to watch the
display grow. As you can see, we find things to entertain us
throughout the week we are in Myrtle. Of course everyday around 1pm
we would all cruize out together and get a bite to eat or just roll
down the strip to get some pimp time in. It all lead up to the grand
finale on Saturday with us holding the final show to the WCT9 at the
Hard Rock Cafe located at Broadway at the Beach. Even though it
rained 75% of the day, we still had 294 entrants into the car and
truck show. Nothing holds back the hardcore show heads that come out
to DropJaw shows. Over the years we have held these Winter Cruize
Tour events in the rain, sleet and snow and there are always people
there ready to get their show on. Just cause there is bad weather
doesnt mean that we are gonna stop doing what we normally do so I
guess the same goes to for the showers...nothings gonna stop them
either. We've never seen more dedicated people than what we see all
the time at our own events. You guys are the bomb and we will always
say this....you all are the reason why DropJaw events are as
successful as they are. Without your support we would standing in
the parking lot holding our.....clipboards. The show and overall
Tour was a huge success and we got to add a couple new stops to the
roster this year...Nashville, TN, Washington, NC and who can forget
the fact that we finally came back to Hampton, VA after 3 years. As
for the results of the show, for the first time, we held the awards
ceremony on Sunday at the Hooters in Myrtle Beach. It worked out
pretty good because it seemed like most of the people enjoyed being
able to get their Hooters grub on. There were three people who stood
out on the Winter Cruize Tour this year and the reason for this is
they all three went to every single stop we had. And with the WCT9
points battle going on, it made for some close calls. First there is
Jerry who is in Lowered Atmosphere with the "Dragon Truck" as
everyone calls it. He drove his Blazer to every spot we set up at
and took the top award, Jaw Dropper of the Show, at almost every
one. Needless to say, the points collected put him well over the top
for the award of Jaw Dropper of the Tour. Next there is Bubba who is
in Scikotics with the black Scion box that dominated the Scion class
throughout the Tour. He also drove his ride to every single stop.
Remind you that some of these places were 8 or so hours away for
these guys. Bubba walked away with Cruize King of the Tour. And
thirdly there is Jeff who is in Lowered Atmosphere and drives the
burgundy and black two two toned full-size Chevy who came to every
stop as well. Unfortunately for Jeff, his truck got hit about half
way through the tour and he was forced to put it in the
shop....getting some new goodies while in there of course. This
didnt stop him though, once his truck went into the shop he still
came and showed. He showed everything from his hot rod style S-10
that he has, to his woman's ride, and even the rental vehicle that
he took to one of the shows. Now that dood wants to show. We also
gave out awards to the top points winners in each class that we had
on the Tour. And of course the Largest Club of the Tour award goes
out to that club who had the most total vehicles representin' at all
the stops combined.....Lowered Atmosphere. There were some clubs
that gave them a run for their money like R.I.T.S., but in the end
they towered above the rest and took the gold......ok so they took
the acrylic. We had a great time this year on the Tour and we look
forward to an even bigger tour next year...we hope to see you all
there. It is and has been proven to be...."The Hottest Time You'll
Have, Freezin' Your Ass Off".
